Dubai Police seize car after reckless Marina stunt caught on video
Motorist referred for legal action after hazardous manoeuvres
DUBAI – Police in Dubai have seized a vehicle after its driver was filmed performing dangerous stunts in Dubai Marina, raising serious safety concerns and disrupting traffic in one of the city’s busiest residential areas.
The incident, which circulated widely on social media, prompted swift action from traffic patrols. Officials said the behaviour posed a direct risk to road users and pedestrians.
The motorist was observed engaging in reckless driving, including sudden swerving and hazardous manoeuvres on a public road. Authorities confirmed that the vehicle was intercepted and the driver has been referred to the relevant authorities for further legal proceedings.
Swift action
According to Brigadier Jumaa Salem bin Suwaidan, Acting Director of the General Department of Traffic, the case falls under the “Quiet Roads” initiative. The programme is designed to enhance quality of life across residential communities by reducing noise pollution, curbing traffic disturbances, and reinforcing road safety standards.
Traffic patrols identified the violations during routine monitoring and moved quickly to stop the vehicle. Officials noted that such behaviour not only endangers the driver but also threatens the safety of other motorists and affects the smooth flow of traffic.
Strict penalties
Authorities reiterated that dangerous practices such as drifting, showboating, excessive speeding and abrupt lane changes are treated as serious offences under UAE traffic laws. Penalties can include vehicle impoundment, hefty fines, and referral to court, particularly in cases where lives or property are put at risk.
Dubai Police emphasised a zero-tolerance approach towards reckless driving, with intensified monitoring across key roads and vital areas. This includes the use of advanced smart surveillance systems alongside on-ground patrols to detect and respond to violations in real time.
Public role
Residents have been urged to play an active role in maintaining road safety by reporting dangerous behaviour through the “Police Eye” service available on the Dubai Police smart application.
Officials stressed that community cooperation remains essential in identifying offenders and preventing hazardous incidents.
